Valentine's Day: 3 Ways to Exceed Her Expectations
We've all been there. Some have been there more than others, but we've all been there. The holiday for lovers, Valentine's Day, rolls around again and we guys are unprepared.
Why? It's the same day every year. February 14th. Since the invention of this holiday many moons ago, this has always been the day. Every female, young and old, has this date circled (or hearted). They are always ready to receive, and yet a lot of times, we are not ready to give. Come on boys, we’ve got to get with it.
I know, some of you believe that it's a made up holiday and why should we be forced to acknowledge our significant other on this particular day? But, the ladies are expecting it… hoping and praying that their man comes through for them.
So how will you come through?
1. GIVE HER SOMETHING SHE WILL LIKE, NOT WHAT YOU THINK SHE WILL LIKE
In my flower business I see guys every year walk in with no clue what their ladies like to receive. They guess. Don't guess! Find out if she prefers roses to lilies. Does she go wild for orchids, or does a certain shade of pink make her go wild? The more you know, the better you will do for her.
2. DON’T WAIT UNTIL THE 11TH HOUR
I always say, better to be a day early than a day late. There is nothing wrong with sending your girl flowers on the 13th. In fact, when your flowers show up a day early, it shows you were on the ball and wanted to avoid the rush. Because, believe me, with the volume of deliveries that takes place on the 14th, you could have something not show up until the day or night is almost over. And every hour that passes, she is getting more and more stressed... "Did he forget me?" Don't make her be that girl. Let her be the girl that comes into work on the 14th, having her flowers and your cute card staring at her all day, while other girls in the office are waiting.... and waiting…. and waiting.
3. SPEND ON THE FLOWERS, SAVE ON THE DELIVERY
I know flowers can be expensive. All things can be expensive. Jewelry, clothes, perfume, dinner…. But the gesture is important. And, no lady likes to feel marginalized. So how can you save a little and still give big? Don't have the flowers delivered. Call me, or any local florist, and have the flowers professionally arranged in a vase so they look stunning but save money by picking them up. When you take them to her yourself, I will guarantee you will get a better thank you than my delivery guy! Go that extra mile for her, and in turn, she will go that extra mile for you.
Happy Valentine’s Day and remember to just Be The Man!
